Ein Stingl in Rumänien

"Hello, my name is Mihnea, I am 11 years old, I live in Timișoara, Romania, and I want to tell you that soon my Stingl piano will be 99 years old. This piano arrived in our house by chance. My father received it from a friend who bought an old house where this piano had been sleeping for a long time. Dusty, out of tune but still full of life and without defects. That's how I ended up learning to sing. From the fall I am in the fifth grade of piano at the Ion Vidu music high school. I am sending you some pictures and I would like you to confirm the age of the instrument that I deduced from some notes I found. This piano changed my life and you have a contribution to this. Thank you!"

"These photos show a grand piano with repetition action, a very modern and still contemporary technology.

The design-model „Gebrüder Stingl“ LISZT TRIUMPF MIGNON and especially the instrument 31707 was probably built in the years 1925-1927 – so the age of around 99 years is quite correct. It would be very interesting how this special instrument made it´s way to Timișoara in Romania. On the other hand we know that during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy the great part of the Gebr. Stingl  (Stingl brothers) pianos were delivered to the counties of the crown, so it is very likely that the love & demand of music together with this commercial connection, bringing the instrument to your wonderful city, existed for longer than the governmental condition of the emperorship."
